Cream Puffs

 

My mom made this Betty Crocker recipe and done right, it's delicous.

 

Ingredients

 

½ cup shortening

1 cup boiling water

¼ tsp salt

1 cup flour

4 eggs

 

  1. Place water, fat and salt in a saucepan and bring to boiling point
  2. Add flour while still heating and stir until mix leaves the side of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and stir until smooth. Cool for about 5 minutes
  4. Add eggs and beat with a mixer.
  5. Drop by spoonfulls in 2 inch drops about 2 inches apart onto an oiled floured backing sheet, Shape into hersheys kiss shape.
  6. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 325 and bake 30 minutes longer
  7. Cut a slit in the side when removed to prevent sogginess
  8. Make whipped cream
  9. Cut puffs in half, hollow out some of the top and bottom, then fill hollow with whipped cream.  Cover with top half.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar or chocolate shavings ... or both.
